We are Witnesses: A Discussion of Spiritual Autobiography November 7 ~ November 9, 2025 $325
The writer Flannery O’Connor once said, “It seems to me that good stories are about conversion, a character’s changing.” Autobiographical stores are especially powerful. They provide for the reader, not just a path for the conduct of one’s own life, but also a mirror in which to examine one’s personal circumstances, values, and beliefs. Such stories have been an important dimension of Christian experience. Along with the account of Jesus’ acts and words, we have many stories of people who have been converted by him. This workshop surveys a range of spiritual autobiographies, such as Saint Augustine, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Dorothy Day, and Malcolm X. We will read and reflect upon these powerful stories and begin to write our own spiritual autobiography. Presenter: Fr. Tom Scirghi, SJ
